Welcome
To New Art Press
New Art Press is a co-op press. Its editors and peer reviewers are all
experienced business people with many publishing credentials. How does
a co-op press work? Traditional publishing is very much stacked in favor of the publisher.
The vast majority of writers sign an agreement giving 80% of the profits of their books
to their publishers. This was a workable agreement when publishers made an honest effort to
market an author's book. Today, most marketing is done by the author him or herself. The
question, therefore, is why give away 80% or more of your profits when the publisher is
doing so little to promote your book?
A co-op press is a group of peer-reviewed authors (i.e. not a vanity press as most proposals
are passed over) who have joined together to publish important works of non-fiction (i.e. books, white papers, dissertations).
Proposals are submitted to our editorial offices for a first review. If your proposal passes muster it is
then submitted to a team of esteemed peer reviewers in your field who will make the ultimate decision
whether or not your work merits publication.
Should your work be selected, New Art Press will work with you throughout the publication process. There are no
up-front costs, except for a one time co-op membership fee. New Art Press will secure your
ISBN number, lightly edit your book (authors are responsible for securing the services of a good editor),
lay it out, produce it as an e-book, promote it and sell it through
Amazon.com and hundreds of other e-Book resellers. We will also produce your writer's page on the New Art Press website.
In return, New Art Press will share in the proceeds. New Art Press will receive 40%
(not the 85 - 88% that traditional publishers take) of the proceeds of
each sale.
